Artist’s Statement
A dedicated artist, art teacher and arts advocate, Brooke Nuckles Gentekos creates art in her Southern Oregon studio. Influenced by patterns, movement, nature, and human connections, she combine fibers (yarn, ribbon, string) with found objects to create colorful and textured works of art including large-scale fiber art installations, mixed media canvases and screen prints on organic eco-apparel and home decor.
In 2002, Brooke received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her artwork has been shown nationally and internationally with recent exhibitions in Southern Oregon at the Rogue Valley International Airport, Pollinator Place, Art du Jour, GoodBean and Art Presence, in Corvallis at The Arts Center, and in Yreka at Liberty Arts Gallery. As an arts advocate, she is a founder of the Arts Alliance of Southern Oregon and in community, embraces collaboration passionately to manifest inclusive and positive change through volunteering and as a paid consultant for non-profit organizations.
To encourage arts appreciation, Brooke teaches high school art at St. Mary's School in Medford, Fine Art Camps for children at Project Space in Talent, and art classes at many other regional venues. She has been teaching art to all ages for over fifteen years and strives to create opportunities in the visual arts for all ages and abilities.
