Drawing Class for youth ages 6-12

This summer, elementary-aged artists-in-training will learn foundational drawing skills using quality art materials at Art Presence Art Center. Drawing with pencil, ink, and charcoal, children will be inspired by the drawings of famous artists and introduced to the basic principles and elements of art and design. Students will be encouraged to express themselves creatively as they develop foundational art skills while drawing still life, self portraits, and landscapes.

Taught by Brooke Nuckles Gentekos at Art Presence Art Center in Jacksonville, Oregon, the class and provided materials are made possible by a grant from the Haines Foundation. 

First Session:  June 11th through July 16th, Tuesdays from 5:30–7:00pm
Second Session: July 30th through September 3rd, Tuesdays from 5:30–7:00pm

Nature- Inspired Canvas

Create a mixed media work of art on an 8" by 10"canvas with original drawings, painting, prints and collage. Whether you are a seasoned artist or a beginner interested in learning to draw, paint and create, this class will encourage artists of all skill levels to make art with imaginative expression. Inspired by the plants and trees throughout the nursery, we'll use graphite and charcoal to draw observationally from life then add color and collage for a one of a kind masterpiece to take home or gift to someone you love. Cost: $25 includes all supplies.

Harvest Sketchbook Making

Construct a one of a kind sketchbook with secret pockets, uniquely collaged pages and fun fold-outs using a variety of handmade and artistic papers. Once the handmade books are complete, we'll sketch plants and trees in the nursery, reflect on the bounty of fall and make plans for next year's gardens. Fall is the perfect season to celebrate nature, the harvest and seasonal wheel. Take your new and unique Harvest Sketchbook home to keep notes, poems, drawings and visions for abundance and happiness. Cost: $35 includes all supplies.

Project Space, Talent, Oregon

Young artists will explore foundational visual art skills making original works of art with quality art materials. Inspired by famous artists and their masterpieces, we’ll DRAW still life, PAINT self portraits, SCULPT with wire and found objects, and CREATE collaborative murals, mandalas and installation art. Artist reception on Friday with campers’ artwork on display.
